The Deck That
Makes the Pool.

A bare concrete pool deck doesn't match the water it surrounds. Our outdoor-grade polyaspartic system is slip-resistant when wet, cool enough for bare feet, and resistant to chlorine, sun, and Midwest winters — so your pool area looks as good as it performs.

Why Lakeside

What a Pool Deck
Actually Demands.

A pool deck faces conditions no other surface in your yard does. Constant wet-dry cycling, chlorine splash, bare feet in July, and Midwest freeze-thaw all winter. Here's how our system handles all of it.

01

Slip-Resistant by Default

Around water, the floor simply cannot be slippery. Every pool deck application includes a full flake broadcast plus silica aggregate in the polyaspartic topcoat — creating a textured surface that grips bare wet feet rather than sending them out from under you.

02

Chemical-Resistant Finish

Pool decks live with chlorine splash, pH adjusters, and algaecides all season long. Our polyaspartic topcoat is fully chemical-resistant — it won't absorb, stain, or break down from pool chemical exposure the way bare concrete or lower-grade coatings can over time.

03

UV Stable & Cool Underfoot

We always recommend lighter flake color blends for pool decks — they reflect more heat and stay cooler underfoot in direct summer sun. The UV-stable topcoat also means no yellowing, chalking, or color fade after a season or two, unlike epoxy-based systems.

Where We Work

Every Surface
Around the Water.

We coat all the concrete that surrounds your pool — from the main deck to the spa surround to the walkway leading from the back door.

Inground Pool Deck

The full pool surround is our most common pool application. We coat the entire deck in one continuous system, creating a seamless, resort-quality finish that ties the whole pool area together — without the cracks, staining, or rough texture of bare concrete.

Spa & Hot Tub Surround

Spa surrounds go through more wet-dry cycling than almost any other outdoor surface. Constant moisture, heat, and chemical splash demand a coating that won't delaminate or stain. Our system handles all of it — and looks great while doing it.

Pool Walkways & Steps

The path from the house to the pool, and the pool steps themselves, are high-traffic wet zones that need the most grip. We apply extra silica aggregate to steps and entry walkways so you're never wondering if the surface is safe when it's wet.

The Process

The Lakeside
Two-Day System.

Day 1

Concrete Inspection & Diamond Grind

We inspect the slab for cracks, spalling, and surface conditions specific to pool decks — then diamond-grind the entire surface. Grinding creates a mechanical bond that holds through constant wet-dry cycling and freeze-thaw, unlike adhesives or surface sealers.

01
Day 1

Crack Fill & Surface Repair

All cracks, chips, and surface defects are filled and leveled. Pool deck concrete often shows more wear from freeze-thaw and pool chemistry — we address everything before the coating touches the slab so the finished surface is even and clean.

02
Day 1

Base Coat, Flake Broadcast & Silica

The polyaspartic base coat goes down, followed by a full decorative flake broadcast. For pool decks, we always incorporate silica aggregate into the broadcast for enhanced grip on wet bare feet. The floor cures overnight.

03
Day 2

UV-Stable, Chemical-Resistant Topcoat

We return and apply the high-solids polyaspartic topcoat — the layer that provides UV stability, chemical resistance, and the final slip-resistant texture. Your pool deck is done by end of day, ready for foot traffic in 24 hours.

Available Finishes

The Right Look
For Your Pool.

For pool decks we always steer toward lighter color blends — they stay cooler underfoot in direct sun. We'll walk you through the full color catalog at your estimate.

Most Popular

Light Flake Blend

Our most popular pool deck finish — a light, neutral decorative flake broadcast that reflects sun, hides water spots and foot traffic between cleanings, and creates the natural grip texture you need around water. Available in dozens of color blends.

Stays cooler underfoot in direct sun

Solid Neutral Color

A clean single-color finish in a light tan, white, or grey gives pool areas a Mediterranean or contemporary look. Works especially well on larger pool decks where a solid color reads as a design choice rather than just a coating.

Ask about light color options for heat reduction

Max-Grip Finish

For steps, diving board surrounds, and pool entries where extra traction is critical — we can dial up the silica aggregate in the topcoat for a more pronounced texture. Same beautiful look, maximum grip where it matters most.

Recommended for steps and high-traffic wet zones

FAQ

Common
Questions.

The questions pool deck homeowners ask us most before we get started. Have a specific situation? Just reach out — we're happy to talk through the details.

Is it slippery around the pool?

No — slip resistance is the first thing we design into a pool deck application. Every pool deck gets a full broadcast of decorative flake plus silica aggregate in the topcoat. The result is a texture that grips wet bare feet, not a smooth film that becomes a hazard.

Will pool chemicals damage the coating?

No. Our polyaspartic topcoat is fully chemical-resistant. Chlorine splash, pH adjusters, algaecides — none of it will eat through or discolor the finish. This is a key reason we use polyaspartic rather than standard epoxy for pool environments.

How hot does it get underfoot in the summer?

Surface temperature depends significantly on your color choice — lighter flake blends stay much cooler in direct sun than dark colors. We always recommend a light neutral palette for pool decks for exactly this reason, and we'll walk you through options at the estimate.

Can you coat around a hot tub or spa too?

Yes — the same coating works perfectly around hot tubs and spas. The chemical-resistance and slip-resistance properties are just as important there, and the finish handles constant wet-dry cycling and heat without issue.

How long until I can use the pool area after coating?

The coated deck is ready for foot traffic within 24 hours after Day 2. We recommend waiting 48–72 hours before placing furniture back. The pool itself is a separate question — that timeline depends on your pool contractor's work, not ours.

Will it hold up through Midwest winters around a pool?

Yes. Our polyaspartic formula handles freeze-thaw cycling — the main failure mode for coatings in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Pool decks also go through repeated wet-dry cycles during the season, which the coating handles without delaminating or cracking.
