Acid etching only cleans the surface — it doesn't change the profile of the concrete. We use heavy-duty industrial grinders with diamond-tipped blades to mechanically "open" the concrete.
Think of it like sanding wood before staining. It creates the "anchor" needed for our coating to become part of the slab, rather than just a thin layer sitting on top.
Concrete is naturally porous — it's a "stone sponge." Even if it looks dry, moisture vapor is constantly rising from the ground. If you trap that vapor under a cheap coating, it creates hydrostatic pressure that causes bubbles and delamination.
We test every floor for moisture and, when needed, apply an MVB moisture-vapor barrier to prevent this common cause of floor failure.
True craftsmanship can't be rushed. A two-day system allows us to use slower-curing, high-solids primers that have the time to "wick" deep into the concrete.
It also ensures we have the proper window to conduct moisture testing and apply a dedicated moisture vapor barrier — the foundation of a floor that won't peel.
Selecting the wrong chemistry for the wrong environment is a recipe for disaster. For example, using a rigid epoxy on an outdoor patio will lead to cracking during the winter freeze-thaw cycle.
